Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 2026
We use two anonymous analytics tools (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) to see which pages actually help residents - nothing more. You can decline in the banner and the site still works. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell data to anyone.
This page explains what cookies and browser storage East Village Hub uses, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. We also use localStorage and sessionStorage - similar technologies built into your browser - for some features.
Functional storage - no consent required
These are strictly necessary for the site to work correctly or to remember your preferences. They do not track you across sites.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
evh_weather_v1 | localStorage | Caches weather data so we don't fetch it on every page load | 30 minutes |
evh_modal_dismissed_* | localStorage | Remembers which site announcements you've dismissed | Until you clear browser storage |
thumb_* | localStorage | Remembers which articles you've marked as helpful ("thumbs up") | Until you clear browser storage |
evh_analytics_consent | localStorage | Stores your cookie consent choice (accepted or declined) | Until you clear browser storage |
claim:*, email:* | sessionStorage | Temporarily stores your offer claim details so you can return to the page in the same tab | Cleared when you close the tab |
heating_reported | sessionStorage | Remembers that you have submitted a heating outage report this session, so the widget shows your confirmed status instead of the report form | Cleared when you close the tab |
heating_page_visited | sessionStorage | Remembers that you have visited the district heating page during an active outage, so the homepage banner is suppressed on return | Cleared when you close the tab |
snatch_reported | sessionStorage | Remembers that you have submitted a phone theft report this session, to prevent the form being submitted twice in the same tab | Cleared when you close the tab |
| Netlify Identity cookies | Cookie | Authentication for the Business Portal and My E20 - only set if you sign in | Session / until logout |
nf-jwt, nf-mfa-token | localStorage | Stores your Netlify Identity session token while you're signed in to My E20 or the Business Portal | Cleared on logout |
sippi_reported | sessionStorage | Remembers that you have submitted a Sippi parking report this session, to prevent duplicate submissions in the same tab | Cleared when you close the tab |
Analytics cookies - consent required
We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand how residents use the site. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept cookies via the consent banner. They are not set by default.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Cookie (Google) | Distinguishes unique users for Google Analytics. IP addresses are anonymised. | 2 years |
_ga_* | Cookie (Google) | Stores session state for Google Analytics | 2 years |
_clck | Cookie (Microsoft) | Persists a unique user ID for Microsoft Clarity, used to generate heatmaps and session recordings | 1 year |
_clsk | Cookie (Microsoft) | Connects multiple page views into a single Clarity session recording | 1 day |
Analytics events include search terms entered into the site search bar (for example, what residents search for most). These are logged as plain text to our database and used solely to improve the site's search suggestions. Search terms are automatically deleted after 90 days. No personal data is attached to search term records - they are not linked to your identity, device, or session.
We do not use analytics to identify you personally, build advertising profiles, or share data with third parties for marketing purposes.
No advertising cookies
East Village Hub does not use any advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking cookies. We are not monetised through advertising.
Managing your preferences
When you first visit the site, a cookie banner will ask for your consent to analytics. You can change your choice at any time:
- Use the Cookie Preferences link in the footer of any page - this resets your choice and re-shows the consent banner.
- To block all cookies, use your browser's privacy settings or a browser extension such as uBlock Origin.
- To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, use Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- To opt out of Microsoft Clarity specifically, visit Microsoft Clarity's opt-out page.
